QA Engineer – Fintech, Selenium, Tester

Quant Capital is urgently looking for a QA Engineer to join our high profile client.

Our client is in this year’s fintech50 and well known to disrupt the global payments and Foreign exchange markets.

The QA Engineer will work in conjunction with the business analysts to understand what enhancements are being made to the system as well as working with the developers to understand their implementation of the requirements. Testing and quality is a team effort, but the QA should focus on keeping these standards high in the team.

QA Engineer will be part of a development team working through new projects and maintenance tasks. They will have a specific focus on performance and load testing, being able to offer advice, strategy and direction to the test team on these issues. They will be hands on with these tasks and also overseeing this type of testing across the team.

The QA Engineer will also be responsible for:

  • Develop the performance and load testing strategy for the product
  • Execute this strategy through hands on delivery of items and by assisting other teams to bring these concepts into their own testing
  • Investigate test results and assist teams with troubleshooting
  • Take ownership of the testing and quality inside of your team
  • Work with the other QA members of your team to ensure that all work produced by your team meets your own high standards
  • Engage with the business analysts, developers and your development team lead to clearly understand the requirements of each system change
  • Ensure that acceptance criteria for issues are clear and understood before work begins
  • Actively take initiative to find answers, consulting with the business and teammates to identify all facets of an issue and generate a solution
  • Ensure that regression testing is cleared with each release
  • Contribute to documentation where necessary
  • Enhance and support the automation test suite and framework
  • Perform any manual testing that is required
  • Make sure that all test steps are clearly recorded for auditing purposes

The stack is Ruby, Maven, HTML5 with some Angular and Node in parts.

QA Engineers Must have:

  • 4 years testing experience
  • 2 years of experience in testing high-throughput systems for performance and load characteristics
  • Understanding and experience of test automation, including the different types of tests and when to use them
  • Working in an Agile, Scrum, Kanban, BDD, TDD environment on a Web or API delivered product
  • Hands on experience with test automation tools to include Cucumber, RSpec, Selenium, Watir or similar
  • Good experience with JMeter, LoadRunner or any other load generation tools
  • Working with and configuring a Continuous Integration environment like Jenkins / Hudson or similar
  • Experience of extending regression test coverage, prioritising based on business risk
  • Using issue tracking systems like JIRA, to ensure all defects are prioritised and tracked through to resolution
  • Experience of using source control systems like GIT
  • ISEB/ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation level or above
  • Good understanding of different testing techniques (Boundary Value analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, state transition)
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent
  • Experience in a Financial Services environment or similar, where the product needs to have a high level of quality
