Quant Capital is urgently looking for an Linux Systems Engineer to join our high profile client.
Our client is an established fintech on a mission to disrupt the foreign exchange market, applying innovation to tap FX liquidity. The environment is that of Facebook or Google, relaxed open with time to think and make the right decisions. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed with an open dress code. The Infrastructure group is responsible for managing and engineering the company’s global solutions for networks, firewalls, servers and storage. The ideal candidate will have experience with the UNIX / Linux operating system and exposure to configuration management tools and cloud services.
The client trades across Equities, Fixed Income, and FX
On a day to Day basis the Linux Engineer will:
• Hosted server architecture and systems administration, which is currently virtual machines / Linux on Dell hardware
• Providing an ongoing blend of project work and general BAU support services
• Ensuring efficient deployment and standard configuration management through automation
• Troubleshooting issues and handle incident escalations (occasionally out-of-hours) while promoting production change management processes and procedures
• Interfacing with all levels of the business and constantly strive to achieve total internal customer satisfaction
• Bringing your own ideas to optimise and further automate the platform stack
Support Specialists MUST have:
• Good experience of working with Unix and perhaps, more recently, modern cloud technology
• Substantial experience in the deployment and management of Linux servers
• Good knowledge of managing virtual machines
• Demonstratable knowledge of Rest APIs, Git, PKI and SSL certificates, RedHat/Fedora, DNS, Mail, LDAP and kernel-level debugging is also highly desirable
• Experience in automation and management of platform configuration using Ansible, Python, Puppet or similar
• Scripting/coding experience
• Knowledge and experience with addressing vulnerability scanning reports and patch deployment
• Knowledge and experience with maintaining PAM (Privileged Access Management) tools
• Knowledge of git
