Technical Operations Engineer – Quant Trading
IT Operations Engineer
London
Quant Capital is working with a leading trading technology firm looking for an IT Operations Engineer to join its London team.
This is a broad, hands-on role supporting the systems, devices and infrastructure used across a demanding trading environment. You will be working with highly technical users, so the role needs someone who can troubleshoot properly, communicate clearly and take ownership without creating noise.
The environment is mixed across Windows, Linux and macOS. You will be involved in everything from user support and device builds through to automation, systems administration, monitoring and platform improvement.
The job
- Support traders, engineers and business users across Windows, Linux and macOS
• Build, configure and maintain laptops, desktops and servers
• Administer Windows environments including Active Directory, Group Policy and related tooling
• Troubleshoot device management issues across macOS, iOS and Android
• Support business-critical applications and internal platforms
• Monitor systems and respond quickly to technical issues
• Write scripts and automations to reduce manual support work
• Work with infrastructure, security and engineering teams on improvement projects
• Document fixes, processes and recurring issues properly
What matters
- Strong Windows desktop and server administration experience
• Good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows tooling
• Comfortable supporting macOS, Linux and mobile devices
• Exposure to MDM platforms such as Jamf, Workspace ONE or similar
• Strong PowerShell experience is a key requirement
• Bash or Python scripting useful
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a calm approach under pressure
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Comfortable supporting demanding, technically sharp users
• Fluent English
Useful background
- Trading, finance or another high-pressure technical environment
• Google Workspace, Bloomberg, Chocolatey or similar tools
• Endpoint management, automation or monitoring platforms
• Mixed physical and virtual infrastructure environments
This role suits someone who enjoys proper IT operations work, not basic ticket handling. You will be close to the business, trusted to fix problems properly and given room to improve the way support is delivered.
All applications are handled in strict confidence.
