Java Software Developer – Trading Systems (Remote) Amsterdam or London

Quant Capital is partnered with a leading technology-driven trading firm looking to hire an experienced Java Software Developer. This is a hands-on engineering role building the core software platform used across research, trading systems and operations.

The role suits a strong software engineer who enjoys solving hard technical problems, understands distributed systems, and writes clean, reliable Java. You will work close to research and infrastructure teams, improving performance, extending platform capability and supporting new markets, products and functionality.

What you will be doing

• Build and improve Java-based systems used across trading and research

• Extend core research infrastructure and distributed platform components

• Design scalable storage and data systems with strong reliability requirements

• Improve performance across internal software, open-source tools and Linux environments

• Work on monitoring, alerting and proactive detection across production systems

• Improve communication between distributed services for lower latency and higher throughput

• Analyse data where needed to support platform decisions and future capacity planning

• Work with research, systems and operations teams to turn technical requirements into working software

• Review code and contribute to engineering standards across the team

What they are looking for

• Strong Java engineering experience with excellent debugging and refactoring skills

• Solid computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures and systems design

• Experience building scalable, automated and maintainable software with strong testing discipline

• Comfortable working across different levels of the stack, from individual machines to distributed systems

• Good understanding of networking, storage and performance trade-offs

• Interest in high-performance systems and technical problem solving

• Low-ego engineer who can work independently and collaboratively

• Linux experience is useful

• C++ knowledge is useful

• Trading experience is useful but not required
