Python CTO – Big Data Quant Tech

Quant Capital is urgently looking for Python CTO to join our high profile client.

Our client is a small quantitative data business that works within the finance space. They work with many FTSE 100 businesses in developing quantitative data products for large scale comparison. Most of the team are Oxbridge or Imperial Stats Maths or Comp Sci PhD’s

They are funded by several major banks.

The ideal python CTO will be highly proficient at writing robust Python software for web applications in a fast changing environment with rapid release cycles but also have the ability to lead a small team of seriously bright developers. You’ll be working within a team of highly skilled python developers and quants that love to build amazing things. I am looking for someone who is passionate about mathematics and python data science as well as building a business.

You will be a python quant technologist or mathematician motivated by what’s new to ensure you’re always ahead of the curve. You will understand the need and importance for zero downtime, secure and reliable backups and building maintainable one click solutions.

On a day to day you will:

  • Building a bigger team
  • Designing the architecture of the system
  • Using a data-driven approach to create a big data system:
    • Correlation based network
    • Minimum Spanning Tree
    • Directed Bubble Hierarchical Tree (DBHT)
    • Dimensionality Reduction
    • Projection into an information sphere
  • Designing and implementing a mechanism to make and track changes through time on the complex system
  • Dealing with big data set
  • Implement parallel computing on Python
  • Implement rendering algorithms

Python CTO’s MUST have: (the below also gives you an idea of stack)

  • Python development skills
  • Lead Development experience
  • MSc or BSc in Maths Stats or Comp Sci from a top school MIT Oxbridge or Imperial (Southampton Comp Sci)
  • Good understanding mathematics
  • GIT
  • Ideally noSQL or MySQL
  • Understanding of relational and non-relational databases with or without using an ORM
  • R or Matlab ideally
  • Interest in quantitative problems

The environment is that of Facebook or Google, relaxed open with time to think and make the right decisions. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed with an open dress code. This is a role for techies, those who are motivated by the sharp end of technology and the possibility of making serious money doing something you are passionate about.
My client is based in Oxford but are happy for people to only work a day a week from the office (travel to and from paid for)
